WORK WITH ME!

I've been writing since the age of 10.

That's when my grandmother put my first journal in my hand.

I've been putting myself together and taking myself back apart ever since.

That's what writing is to me. A way to tell stories. A way to become undone.

Even in the most 'mundane' things.

I'm always tasking myself with keeping my writing true to who it serves and true to ME.

...and I'd love to do the same for you.

Let me help you keep your projects true to YOU.

And together? Let's make sure y(our) audience FEEL it.

About Me + My Work

I'm an experienced and passionate story-first researcher and writer who's motivated, eager, and ready to help you tell your story.

I'm known for writing content that's been described as: "heart-wrenchingly beautiful", "excellent", "courageous", "breathing fire and softness at once",  and "profound". Simply put...I'm known for writing things that people can feel.

I'm Adia (pronounced "uh-dee-uh"), and I'm a proud Southern-born, Black woman whose baaaaaad to the bone. By day, I'm a full-time Ph.D. Student in Maternal and Child Health, researching and writing about safety, community violence, and violence prevention in the lives of Black folx. By night and every other time, I'm a writer in my own journals, online newsletter, and with my own freelance writing business.

I provide research, writing, and writing coaching services that help everyday people and professionals see themselves, their audiences, and their stories a lil better.

War. I am the blood and bones of two. One of my homeland, a small country in Western Africa called Liberia. The other right here in the “land of the free”. I reflect on the battles of so many back home and my own struggle with bullying and immigrant hate after arriving to America. My mental health was attacked with low self-esteem and depression when it met taunts and physical abuse on the battlefield each day. Mad. It was enough to drive anyone mad or crazy. In Liberia, however, it’d be no excuse. My culture would rather believe in you having “the spirits”, than acknowledge anything other than strength. Currently, I work as a..... In this position, I am not strong. But, I am responsible for ensuring sufficient staff daily, maintaining data confidentiality, and analyzing data in efforts to make appropriate recommendations. While this role may not require war tactics, it does require carefully planned strategies that parallels a component of social work to help people of all backgrounds and maneuver through complex situations. During the past three years, I’ve interacted with other people at war trying to exert their own strength. Nurses. Patients. Families who lost loved ones in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve all been a part of each other’s collective pain, and it’s time to take our capes off now more than ever. It’s time for our wars to end.
